Therapy That Honors the
Mind-Body-Spirit Connection
Hello + Welcome
If you're exhausted from holding it all together and feeling stuck in the same patterns, arguments, or feelings every day, we want you to know: Change is possible. Healing is possible.
Maybe you've tried therapy before and it helped a bit, but it didn't quite get into the places you know need tending to. Or maybe you've been thinking about reaching out for support, and something about this moment finally feels right.
We're glad you're here.
Here at The Holistic Counseling Center, we provide evidence-based treatment with a heart-centered approach that honors the mind, body, and spirit connection.
Our therapists integrate CBT, EMDR, and IFS with somatic modalities, nervous system regulation tools, and psychospiritual practices to get to the root of what's keeping you stuck.
Therapy isn't just about symptom relief. It's about building a life that actually feels like yours.
We are currently accepting new clients, with evening and weekend appointments available.
If you're ready for support, schedule a free consultation call to learn more about our practice and how our we can help.
"Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it."

Therapy Can Help You Navigate:
Anxiety + Stress
Trauma + Healing
Relationships
Spirituality + Personal Growth
Life Transitions + Family
We believe true healing happens when we treat the whole person, not just the symptoms. That means we don't stop at helping you feel better. We walk the full path with you, from finding safety in your nervous system, to reconnecting with your heart, to remembering who you actually are underneath the pain, the programming, and the patterns.
How we approach holistic psychotherapy:
Clinically Grounded, Spiritually Informed
Our work is rooted in evidence-based therapeutic methods. It's also informed by something deeper. We honor the spiritual dimensions of your life, not as an afterthought, but as an essential part of who you are and how you heal.More Than Symptom Management
We look beneath the surface to understand what's actually driving your distress. The emotional threads, the body's signals, the patterns that started long before you had words for them. We're not interested in quick fixes. We want to unearth the root. You Are Not Your Diagnosis
We view your struggles as messages worth listening to, not as evidence that there's something wrong with you. Our work honors you as a whole person, not a collection of problems to fix. We're here to help you reconnect with who you are beyond your symptoms and build the self-trust and self-love that are foundational to the healing journey.Practical Skills + Deep Inner Work
Our sessions balance grounded, everyday strategies with deeper therapeutic exploration. Whether you're learning to regulate your nervous system, engaging in shadow work, or reconnecting with your inner child, you'll walk away with tools you can use right now and the deeper understanding that makes healing and change possible.
Take the next step on your healing journey. Reach out to get started with one of our El Dorado Hills therapists.
Therapy at The Holistic Counseling Center in El Dorado Hills
Types of Therapy We Offer:
-

Holistic Therapy
Healing requires more than just changing your mind. Holistic therapy weaves together evidence-based clinical methods with practices that honor the mind, body, heart and spirit on your healing journey. -

Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS)
Learn to identify and understand all the parts that make you 'you'. IFS helps you reclaim parts of yourself long ago abandoned, offering compassion where there has been judgment and understanding where there has been pain. The result? More peace, more ease, more freedom to live your life. -

Somatic Therapy
Your body encodes everything you experience in your life: memories, feelings, experiences, desires. Somatic therapy works directly with the body and nervous system, helping you move out of survival mode and release what talk therapy alone can't always reach. -

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Learn how to change your negative thought patterns and behaviors by working directly with the mind. CBT gives you practical, grounded tools you can use in your life right now. It's the gold standard for anxiety and depression because it works. -

EMDR Therapy
Your brain has an innate capacity to heal, but sometimes difficult experiences interrupt the process and can keep you stuck.. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to help the brain reprocess trauma, stress, and deeply rooted patterns, releasing and rewiring what's been held in the mind, body, and nervous system. -

Spiritual Therapy
Why are we here? Why are we suffering? Spiritual therapy integrates clinical depth with the existential and spiritual dimensions of your experience, honoring that you are so much more than your diagnosis, your history, and your symptoms. This is where therapy meets something sacred.
Hi, I’m Kim Burris
Founder of The Holistic Counseling Center and a Licensed Therapist in El Dorado Hills
I believe that being human is a practice and that we all need support.
I want you to know therapy isn’t just for when things fall apart. It's for when something feels off and you can't quite name it. When your life looks good but doesn't feel good. When you're carrying more than you should have to carry alone.
I founded this practice because I wanted to create a space where getting support feels like a normal, healthy, brave thing to do, because it is. A place where things don't have to be "hard enough" to finally reach out for help. Where the mom who's treading water, the couple who can’t find their way back to each other, the teen who's quietly struggling, or someone who just knows there has to be more than this can walk in and feel like they're in the right place.
Our El Dorado Hills therapists bring clinical expertise and real heart to this work. We're trained in evidence-based modalities and holistic practices, and we care deeply about the people who walk through our door.
Whatever you're carrying right now, the doubt, the exhaustion, the "I don't even know where to start," I want you to know that all parts of you are welcome here. There’s nothing too messy or too much about your experience. We see you, we honor you, and we'll walk through it with you.
If you're ready to take the next step, we'd love to talk.

Holistic therapy is an integrative approach that treats the whole person, mind, body, and spirit, not just the symptoms. Where traditional therapy often focuses primarily on thoughts and behaviors, holistic therapy also honors the role of the body, the nervous system, and your overall sense of meaning and purpose in the healing process.
In practice, this means your sessions might include clinical approaches like CBT or IFS alongside somatic practices, mindfulness, breathwork, or exploration of what matters most to you. The goal isn't just to feel better. It's to build a life that actually feels like yours.
-
Our El Dorado Hills therapists bring advanced training in a wide range of modalities that we tailor to your specific needs and goals. These include:
CBT · DBT · EMDR ·IFS ·Existential Therapy · Holistic Therapy ·Mindfulness Therapy · Polyvagal Therapy ·Brainspotting ·Psychodynamic Therapy · Depth Therapy ·Relational Therapy · Somatic Therapy · Somatic Experiencing · Spiritual Therapy
You don't need to know which modality is right for you before you start. That's our job. Our intake coordinator can help by matching you with one of our therapists during your consultation call.

We work with adults, couples, and teens navigating a wide range of experiences, from anxiety, depression, and trauma to relationship difficulties, career stress, life transitions, postpartum challenges, burnout, and questions of meaning and purpose.
You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many of our clients come because something feels off, and they want more than surface-level solutions. If you're looking for support that addresses root causes rather than just managing symptoms, our holistic approach may be a good fit.
-
Both can be deeply effective, and the best choice depends on what works for you.
That said, many of our clients find that in-person therapy offers something unique. When you come into the office, you're stepping out of your daily routine and into a space that exists solely for your healing. There are fewer distractions, it's easier to tune into your body, and the nervous system often settles more quickly when you're physically present with your therapist. For modalities like Somatic Therapy and Brainspotting, in-person work can be especially powerful.
Online therapy is a wonderful option when you need flexibility, and many clients use a combination of both. What matters most is that you show up consistently for yourself, in whatever format supports that.
-
Absolutely. You can move between in-person and virtual sessions whenever you need to, no complicated process required. Life changes, schedules shift, and we want therapy to work with your life, not against it. Just let your therapist know, and we'll adjust.
-

The relationship between you and your therapist is the foundation of the work. If the fit doesn't feel right, we want to know, and we want to help.
One of the advantages of working with a group practice like The Holistic Counseling Center is that switching therapists is simple and uncomplicated. If it doesn’t feel right you don’t need a “reason” and your therapist doesn’t take it personally. If it doesn’t feel like a great fit, just let our intake coordinator know, and we'll match you with someone else on our team. You can always chat with your therapist before a first session to see how it feels and assess for yourself.
