Hello and welcome!

I'm Laura Avalos, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor offering holistic therapy in San Anselmo and online throughout California. I meet you as a fearless, loving guide, and will walk with you through the darkness and the light on the healing journey. 

I can help you navigate trauma, anxiety, grief and loss, spiritual emergence, and life transitions, as well as the tender season of pregnancy, motherhood, and matrescence. As a bilingual, bicultural clinician, I also serve the Latinx community and can help you navigate the experience of immigration, acculturation, and moving between cultural worlds. 

I offer psychotherapy that honors the whole person: mind, body, heart, and spirit, integrating Brainspotting, mindfulness, vagal toning, and psychospiritual practices to help you access and activate the innate healing intelligence of your body. 

Brainspotting (similar to EMDR), reaches beneath the thinking brain into the deeper places where distress is stored, so healing can unfold without needing to retell every painful detail. As a Certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher trained in the lineage of Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach, I weave presence and compassion through everything we do.

Alongside my clinical training, I carry more than eleven years of dedicated spiritual development rooted in the Indigenous traditions of North and South America, including my own Huetar lineage. I hold these teachings with great reverence, and they shape the trust, depth, and steadiness I bring to our work. 

I believe that even in the darkest of times there is always a way through, and that the one who walks through the fire discovers their own light. Honoring the losses and the impact of the life you have lived, together we can step into life today with more presence, compassion, and joy.

I currently offer in-person therapy in San Anselmo, as well as virtual sessions throughout California, and I am accepting new clients.
