Therapy That Honors the Mind-Body-Spirit Connection

Hello + Welcome

If you’re tired of living each day somewhere between survival mode and just getting by, you’re in the right place. This is your invitation to slow down, take a breath, and finally let yourself be supported.

Here at The Holistic Counseling Center, we offer evidence-based psychotherapy that honors the mind-body-spirit connection. We can help you get to the root of what's keeping you stuck, find relief from your symptoms, and start living a life that actually feels like yours.

Our therapists weave together somatic therapy, depth psychology, IFS, mindfulness, and nervous system regulation tools to help you move from survival mode into a more authentic, grounded, and easeful way of being.

Whatever it is you're struggling with, we believe that healing and change are always possible.

We serve clients from Sacramento at our El Dorado Hills office, just a 30-minute drive east on US-50. We also offer online therapy throughout California for those who prefer to meet from home.

We are currently accepting new clients, with evening and weekend appointments available.

If you're ready for support, schedule a free consultation call to learn more and get matched with a therapist.

We believe true healing happens when we treat the whole person, not just the symptoms. That means we don't stop at helping you feel better. We walk the full path with you, from finding safety in your nervous system, to reconnecting with your heart, to remembering who you actually are underneath the pain, the programming, and the patterns.

How we approach holistic psychotherapy:

  • Clinically Grounded, Spiritually Informed Our work is rooted in evidence-based therapeutic methods. It's also informed by something deeper. We honor the spiritual dimensions of your life, not as an afterthought, but as an essential part of who you are and how you heal.

  • More Than Symptom Management We look beneath the surface to understand what's actually driving your distress. The emotional threads, the body's signals, the patterns that started long before you had words for them. We're not interested in quick fixes. We want to unearth the root.

  • You Are Not Your Diagnosis We view your struggles as messages worth listening to, not as evidence that there's something wrong with you. Our work honors you as a whole person, not a collection of problems to fix. We're here to help you reconnect with who you are beyond your symptoms and build the self-trust and self-love that are foundational to the healing journey.

  • Practical Skills + Deep Inner Work Our sessions balance grounded, everyday strategies with deeper therapeutic exploration. Whether you're learning to regulate your nervous system, engaging in shadow work, or reconnecting with your inner child, you'll walk away with tools you can use right now and the deeper understanding that makes healing and change possible.

    Holistic Therapy

Healing requires more than just changing your mind. Holistic therapy weaves together evidence-based clinical methods with practices that honor the mind, body, heart and spirit on your healing journey.

    Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS)

Learn to identify and understand all the parts that make you 'you'. IFS helps you reclaim parts of yourself long ago abandoned, offering compassion where there has been judgment and understanding where there has been pain. The result? More peace, more ease, more freedom to live your life.

  • somatic therapist sacramento, somatic therapy sacramento, somatic experiencing therapy sacramento

    Somatic Therapy

Your body encodes everything you experience in your life: memories, feelings, experiences, desires. Somatic therapy works directly with the body and nervous system, helping you move out of survival mode and release what talk therapy alone can't always reach.

  • cbt therapist sacramento, sacramento therapist cbt, cbt sacramento

    Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Learn how to change your negative thought patterns and behaviors by working directly with the mind. CBT gives you practical, grounded tools you can use in your life right now. It's the gold standard for anxiety and depression because it works.

  • emdr therapist sacramento, sacramento trauma therapist, sacramento EMDR

    EMDR Therapy

Your brain has an innate capacity to heal, but sometimes difficult experiences interrupt the process and can keep you stuck. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to help the brain reprocess trauma, stress, and deeply rooted patterns, releasing and rewiring what's been held in the mind, body, and nervous system.

  • spiritual therapist sacramento, spiritual psychotherapist sacramento, sacramento transpersonal psychotherapy, spiritual therapist sacramento

    Spiritual Therapy

Why are we here? Why are we suffering? Spiritual therapy integrates clinical depth with the existential and spiritual dimensions of your experience, honoring that you are so much more than your diagnosis, your history, and your symptoms. This is where therapy meets something sacred.

Hi, I’m Kim Burris

Founder of The Holistic Counseling Center and a licensed therapist serving the Sacramento community.

I believe that being human is a practice and that we all need support.

I founded this practice because I want therapy to be a place you go not just to feel better, but to actually learn the tools that can change your life. I want getting support to feel like the normal, healthy, brave thing it actually is.

Our therapists bridge clinical excellence and spiritual depth to support the larger existential questions underneath the anxiety, trauma, and mental health overwhelm. Here, we ask the big questions like: Who am I underneath the suffering? What is the point of being human? What happens when I connect with something larger than myself?

Whether you're coming to our El Dorado Hills office or meeting with one of our therapists online, you'll find a team that brings real depth and heart to this work.

Whatever you're carrying right now, I want you to know that all parts of you are welcome here. There’s nothing too much or too messy about you and your experience. We see you, we honor you, and we'll walk through it with you.

If you're ready to take the next step, schedule a free consultation call to learn more about our practice and get matched with one of our therapists.

We'd be honored to support you.

Experience the Benefits of In-Person Therapy in The Sacramento Area

Sacramento roots run deep. But sometimes the life you've built starts to feel heavier than it should. Between work, family, traffic, and trying to keep your own head above water, finding time and space for yourself can feel impossible. Therapy is that space.

Our El Dorado Hills office is close to Sacramento, and was designed with intention to help you slow down, breathe deep and feel like the antidote to everything that's been weighing you down. From East Sacramento, Arden Park, Land Park, or Midtown, it's a straight shot on the US-50, right past Folsom. Our Sacramento clients say the drive itself becomes part of the therapy ritual: a space to transition from the noise of the day into the sacred space of therapy.

We also offer therapy online and you can switch between online and in-person sessions at any time.

What People are Saying

★★★★★

"The Holistic Counseling Center is so aptly named as they are holistic, heart-centered, and provide counseling with a specialization on a wide range of issues we face in a modern world. As an energy healer and life coach, I realize the value of integrated therapy that sees the whole person including their spiritual aspects. I got a chance to get to know each practitioner when I came to teach Reiki to the center and they each seemed compassionate, dedicated to honing their skills, and helping people heal. I would recommend this center for anyone looking for guidance! And their offices are so welcoming beautiful."
