Therapy Can Help You Navigate:
Anxiety + Stress
Trauma + Healing
Relationships
Spirituality + Personal Growth
Life Transitions + Family
Therapy at The Holistic Counseling Center in Marin
We believe true healing happens when we treat the whole person, not just the symptoms. That means we don't stop at helping you feel better. We walk the full path with you, from finding safety in your nervous system, to reconnecting with your heart, to remembering who you actually are underneath the pain, the programming, and the patterns.
How we approach holistic psychotherapy:
Clinically Grounded, Spiritually Informed
Our work is rooted in evidence-based therapeutic methods. It's also informed by something deeper. We honor the spiritual dimensions of your life, not as an afterthought, but as an essential part of who you are and how you heal.More Than Symptom Management
We look beneath the surface to understand what's actually driving your distress. The emotional threads, the body's signals, the patterns that started long before you had words for them. We're not interested in quick fixes. We want to unearth the root. You Are Not Your Diagnosis
We view your struggles as messages worth listening to, not as evidence that there's something wrong with you. Our work honors you as a whole person, not a collection of problems to fix. We're here to help you reconnect with who you are beyond your symptoms and build the self-trust and self-love that are foundational to the healing journey.Practical Skills + Deep Inner Work
Our sessions balance grounded, everyday strategies with deeper therapeutic exploration. Whether you're learning to regulate your nervous system, engaging in shadow work, or reconnecting with your inner child, you'll walk away with tools you can use right now and the deeper understanding that makes healing and change possible.
Take the next step on your healing journey. Schedule a free consultation call to get started with one of our Marin therapists.
Types of Therapy We Offer:
-

Holistic Therapy
Healing requires more than just changing your mind. Holistic therapy weaves together evidence-based clinical methods with practices that honor the mind, body, heart and spirit on your healing journey. -

Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS)
Learn to identify and understand all the parts that make you 'you'. IFS helps you reclaim parts of yourself long ago abandoned, offering compassion where there has been judgment and understanding where there has been pain. The result? More peace, more ease, more freedom to live your life. -

Somatic Therapy
Your body encodes everything you experience in your life: memories, feelings, experiences, desires. Somatic therapy works directly with the body and nervous system, helping you move out of survival mode and release what talk therapy alone can't always reach. -

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Learn how to change your negative thought patterns and behaviors by working directly with the mind. CBT gives you practical, grounded tools you can use in your life right now. It's the gold standard for anxiety and depression because it works. -

EMDR Therapy
Your brain has an innate capacity to heal, but sometimes difficult experiences interrupt the process and can keep you stuck. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to help the brain reprocess trauma, stress, and deeply rooted patterns, releasing and rewiring what's been held in the mind, body, and nervous system. -

Spiritual Therapy
Why are we here? Why are we suffering? Spiritual therapy integrates clinical depth with the existential and spiritual dimensions of your experience, honoring that you are so much more than your diagnosis, your history, and your symptoms. This is where therapy meets something sacred.
Hi, I’m Kim Burris
Founder of The Holistic Counseling Center and a Licensed Therapist in Marin
I believe that being human is a practice, and we all need support.
I started this practice because I believe everyone deserves therapy that goes deeper than just managing symptoms. The kind that honors your mind, your body, and your spirit, and gets to the root of what's been holding you back.
I live in Fairfax with my husband and two amazing kiddos. I opened an office in San Anselmo because I believe in the value of in-person therapy and wanted to serve the community with holistic therapy. I’m so glad you’re here.
Whether you're navigating the chaos of daily life, raising a family, building something of your own, or quietly carrying a weight no one else can see, you deserve a space that exists just for you.
Our team brings clinical expertise and real heart to this work, with training in EMDR, Brainspotting, IFS, Transpersonal Psychology, and Somatic Therapy. We get into the places traditional therapy often skips: the body, the nervous system, and the spiritual heart.
No matter the weight you're carrying, I want you to know that all parts of you are welcome here. There's nothing about you or your experience that is too much, too messy, or too hard. We see you, we honor you, and we'll walk through it with you.
If you're ready to take the next step, we'd love to support you. Book a free consultation call to get matched with an in-person therapist in Marin.

Yes. Trauma therapy is the core of our work, and it's one of the most common reasons people from Marin reach out to us.
Trauma doesn't only live in your memories, it lives in your body and nervous system, which is why talk therapy alone often isn't enough.
Our therapists use EMDR, Brainspotting, Somatic Therapy, and IFS to help your system actually process and release what it's been holding, whether that's a single event, complex or childhood trauma, or wounds you can't quite name.
You don't have to keep struggling through it all alone. Learn more about our trauma therapists in Marin by booking a free consultation.
-
Yes. Several of our Marin therapists are trained in EMDR and Brainspotting, two of the most effective approaches available for trauma, anxiety, and stuck patterns.
Both work below the level of conscious thought to help the brain and body reprocess what's been keeping you stuck, often reaching what talk therapy alone can't. Schedule a free consultation call and we'll help you find the right fit.
-
Yes. Our couples therapists work with partners in every kind of relationship, including married, dating, LGBTQIA+, and non-traditional structures. If you're stuck in the same argument on a loop, feeling more like roommates than partners, or working to rebuild trust after a rupture, we can help you understand the patterns underneath the conflict and find your way back to each other. Evening and weekend appointments are available. Learn more about couples counseling or book a consultation.

Our therapists use CBT, Somatic Therapy, IFS, and EMDR to get beneath your anxiety and work with what's actually driving it, not just quiet it for a while. Holistic therapy treats the whole person, mind, body, and spirit, rather than focusing on symptoms alone. Traditional approaches often center on thoughts and behaviors. Holistic work also makes room for the body, the nervous system, and the spiritual and existential threads of your life. In practice, a single session might weave a clinical approach like IFS or CBT together with somatic awareness, breathwork, or questions of meaning and purpose. The aim isn't only to feel better. It's to build a life that genuinely feels like yours.
-
Our therapists bring advanced training in a wide range of modalities we tailor to your needs and goals, including CBT, DBT, EMDR, Brainspotting, IFS, Somatic Therapy, Depth Therapy, Existential Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Polyvagal Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Relational Therapy, and Spiritual Therapy. We also offer emotionally focused therapy (EFT), Gottman Therapy and Relational Life Therapy (RLT) for couples. You don't need to know which one is right for you before you begin. That's our job. Explore all types of therapy here.

We work with adults, couples, moms, and teens across Marin navigating everything from anxiety, depression, and trauma to relationship struggles, life transitions, postpartum challenges, burnout, and questions of meaning and purpose. You don't have to be in crisis to reach out for support. Many clients reach out because something feels off and they want more than surface-level solutions. Our holistic approach is built to reach the root of what's driving your distress, not just manage the symptoms

Our fees range from $160 to $300 and vary depending on which clinician you work with. We don't accept insurance directly, but we're an out-of-network provider for most PPO plans and can help you seek reimbursement. Many clients with PPO insurance are reimbursed 50–80% of the fee, which can bring the out-of-pocket cost to roughly $20–$150 per session. Learn more about our fees and working with insurance.
